Srini R. Mirmira

Dr. Srini Mirmira is an executive with strong technical and business experiences in the fields of energy and information technology that span private, government, and international sectors.  Over the last 15+ years, Srini has been responsible for product development, commercialization of technologies, investing in and securing financing for programs and companies, and developing regulatory policies to enable the creation of new markets.

Prior to joining the Monument Capital Group, Srini served as an Advisor to HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  In this role, Srini was a key-member of teams responsible for:

  • Developing national-level policies to enable deployment of state-of-the-art technologies
  • Establishing energy performance standards, and building personnel technical capacity in the fields of energy efficiency and alternate energy
  • Establishing a Corporate Average Fuel Economy standard for light-duty-vehicles
  • Developing comprehensive business plans to establish National Super Energy Services and District Cooling Companies, and a Center of Excellence in Energy Efficiency

Prior to Ministry of Petroleum, Srini worked at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as a Senior Advisor for International Affairs and as a Program Director at the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E).  At DOE, Srini was responsible for:

  • Initiating and managing several strategic initiatives, including a $125M Joint Clean Energy Research Center with India and Advanced Management and Protection of Energy Storage Devices, a $40M program focused on significantly enhancing performance and safety of electrical storage devices
  • Serving as the U.S. Chairperson of the Science & Technology Energy partnership with Turkey and the DOE representative of the White House led Power Africa initiative and signing MOUs with the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company and Qatar Science & Technology Park

Prior to DOE, Srini was a successful venture capitalist, including tenure as a Partner at RedShift Ventures and its predecessor SpaceVest.  As a Partner at RedShift Ventures, Srini served on the Board of Directors of several of its portfolio companies, including TerraGo Technologies, SiOnyx (acquired by Fortress), Novariant and Imaginova.  Prior to SpaceVest, Srini was a Manager at the strategic venture arm of Boeing, where he was responsible for making investments into venture capital firms as well as evaluating and acquiring technologies critical to Boeing’s needs.

Srini has also held operational roles, having been a Senior Technologist at Applied Materials, where his efforts led to over $100M in revenue and the company capturing significant market-share in the chemical-mechanical and planarization sector at Intel, Texas Instruments, IBM, and Samsung.

Dr. Mirmira earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA with concentrations in finance and economics from the University of Chicago.
